چکیده

Ice-slurry is an ideal form of ice product for ice-storage, which is an effective measure to save energy. The conventional producing method using super-cooled water suffers the troubles of instability and heavy dependence on electronic power. We propose a novel method to improve that: spraying water is super-cooled by evaporating in a chamber where the air is of low humidity and low wet bulb temperature; a refrigeration cycle and an inlaid liquiddehumidifying unit are adopted to recover the air to run the cycle; the rejected heat from the condenser is used to drive the liquid dehumidifying unit. System and performance analysis were made. The results indicate that compared to the conventional super-cooled water system, this new system could avoid the ice block, and shoulder off the heavy dependence on the electric power while raise the efficiency by a maximum value of 98% under certain conditions.

Raising Evaporative Cooling Potentials Using Combined Cooled Ceiling and High Temperature Cooling Storage

Evaporative cooling is able to generate the cooling medium at a temperature approaching to the ambient wet bulb temperature. In this paper, a low-energy air conditioning strategy is proposed, which is a combination of cooled ceiling (CC), microencapsulated phase change material (MPCM) slurry storage and evaporative cooling technologies. The assessment of evaporative cooling availability and uti...

Does Cold Water or Ice Slurry Ingestion During Exercise Elicit a Net Body Cooling Effect in the Heat?

Cold water or ice slurry ingestion during exercise seems to be an effective and practical means to improve endurance exercise performance in the heat. However, transient reductions in sweating appear to decrease the potential for evaporative heat loss from the skin by a magnitude that at least negates the additional internal heat loss as a cold ingested fluid warms up to equilibrate with body t...

Sensory, Microbiological and Chemical Assessment of Cod (Gadus morhua) Fillets during Chilled Storage as Influenced by Bleeding Methods

The effects of seawater and slurry ice bleeding methods on the sensory, microbiological and chemical quality changes of cod fillets during chilled storage were examined in this study. The results from sensory evaluation showed that slurry ice bleeding method prolonged the shelf life of cod fillets up to 13-14 days compared to 10-11 days for fish bled in seawater. Slurry ice bleeding method also...

Effect of Super - Cooled Water Droplet Characteristics on Fan Rotor - Ice Accretion

This paper presents a methodology for numerical simulations of super-cooled three-dimensional (3-D) water droplet trajectories through aeroengine rotating machinery that includes the effect of energy exchange between the droplets and flow. The governing equations for both flow and droplets are formulated and solved within the reference frame of rotating blades. A Eulerian-Lagrangian approach is...
